The Security Screening Management (CSSPB – Conduct Security Screening of Person and Bag) course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct security screening operations effectively and professionally. Participants will learn how to screen individuals, bags, and personal belongings using approved screening procedures and equipment while maintaining security, safety, and compliance with workplace regulations. Prepare for Security Screening Duty
  • Clarify the duty assignment details with the appropriate authority in doubt
  • Check security screening equipment for operational status

Prepare Person for Security Screening
  • Greet the person entering the checkpoint courteously in accordance with organisational greetings standard
  • Inform the person entering the checkpoint to courteously comply with the walk-through metal detector security screening in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Guide the person to walk through the walk-through metal detector

Conduct Screening with Walk-through and Hand-held Metal Detector
  • Observe a person walking through the walk-through metal detector
  • Identify the activation signal in accordance with established organisational procedures
  • Conduct a verbal check followed by hand-held metal detector screening when an activation signal is identified according to organisational procedures
  • Prohibit entry/exit and inform the appropriate authority where a person refuses to be screened in accordance with organisational procedures and client requirements
  • Handle prohibited items in accordance with organisational procedures and premises requirements
  • Thank the person for his/her co-operation and patience according to organisational greetings standard

Conduct Manual Person Screening (Pat-down)
  • Assess and determine when a person search is required in accordance with security procedures.
  • Inform the appropriate authority when the person refuses to comply with the instructions of the Screening Officer
  • Conduct screening of a person in accordance with the limits of authority of the Screening Officer and established organisational procedures, and with the presence of authorised personnel
  • Conduct a pat-down search according to the areas of checks
  • Report to the appropriate authority when a suspicious item is found

Perform Manual Bag Search
  • Identify the need to conduct a bag search and, courteously, inform the person whose items are to be manually searched to comply with screening instructions.

  • Seek permission from the appropriate authority when there is a special request to search in private.
  • Handle suspicious items in accordance with organisational procedures.

Conclude Security Screening Procedures
  • Log out and switch off security equipment in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Check the work area for cleanliness and tidiness
  • Return all equipment to the appropriate authority
  • Record all incidents in the activity report and submit it to the appropriate authority in accordance with organisational procedures
