What WSQ security courses does Etann run in Singapore?
We run the full range from the basic modules a new officer needs to get licensed, all the way up to the supervisor level.
- For New Security Officers: Provide Guard & Patrol Services And Operate Basic Security Equipment (PGPS & OBSE), RTT (Threat Observation), and HSIS (Incident Response). These three get you your security licence.
- For Senior Security Officers: MDCTB (Deterrence) and SSM (Security Surveillance Management).
- For Supervisors: Guard and Patrol (SS), Capability Development (ISP), and Security Operation Compliance (PSDWLF).
- We also run Elective Modules – CSSPB (Security Screening), PAPP (Deterrence), and Crowd & Traffic Control.

What is OBSE and do you really need it?
- Yes, you need it. OBSE, short for Operate Basic Security Equipment, now listed under Access Control Management, is the core module every security officer in Singapore must pass before they can be deployed for work.
- No OBSE means you cannot legally work as a security officer from January 1st, 2027. If yours has lapsed or you never completed it, get in touch with us. Classes run every week.
What is PRSF and what happens if I skip it?
- PRSF is tied to the Progressive Wage Model. Every security officer at each rank level must complete specific upgrade modules. If you don’t complete them, your rank gets downgraded, and your pay goes down with it.
- We run all the PRSF modules. If you’re not sure which ones you still need, WhatsApp us your current rank, and we’ll check for you.
I'm new to security work. Which course do I start with?
Start with these three, in this order:
- OBSE – Access Control Management
- RTT – Threat Observation
- HSIS – Incident Response
Once you pass all three, you apply for your security licence through PLRD. We can guide you through the PLRD application once you’ve completed training.

How long does each WSQ security module take?
- Most Security Officer modules run over two to three days. SSO-level modules are typically two days. Supervisor modules take three to four days.
- We run both weekday and weekend classes to work around shift schedules. Ask us when you enquire, and we’ll match you to a slot that fits.
What if I don't pass the assessment?
You get a re-sit. Before that happens, we’ll go through the areas you struggled with our trainers will stay back to do this, and there’s no extra charge for it. Most learners who re-sit with us pass the second time round.
Do I need to bring anything on the first day?
- Bring your NRIC or Singapore work pass, and make sure you have your Singpass login handy, you’ll need it to register for courses on the SSG system.
- If you’re coming for an upgrading course, bring any relevant documents, such as your existing licence or rank confirmation letter. We’ll confirm the full list when you register.
Are classes conducted in English only?
Classes are in English. That said, our trainers have been teaching security officers of all backgrounds for years.
